“First, be reconciled to your brother or sister, and then come and offer your gift.”
The “Passing of the Peace” during our worship is not meant to be a social time. It is an act of reconciliation and proclaiming the Peace of Christ to our fellow worship- pers. It is an announcement of grace. Jesus’ sermon on the mount gives the basis for the radical act of worship. St. Paul reminds us–we have been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. In the peace and grace of Christ, we can forgive, reconcile, and speak Christ’s peace to a world in desperate need of peace.
